It’s been a long time interest to develop a game though I don’t play much and also mobile game development was quiet challenging during the early stages of mobile hardware/OS evolution .

I was quiet lucky to work on early mobile dev environments like Palm OS, WINCE, Symbian and Java though it was a total nightmare to develop simple form based apps with services as we all know that during those days we had restricted memory and less smart OS in mobile devices. So my idea of developing game was totally a dream and often after some quick start every idea was getting dropped because of my time availability and zero experiences with game development.

One day as-usual was reading a article how a guy during his free time was able to build an game without any knowledge of programming and you know what it deeply heart me as I was better experienced than him but certainly lacked to make use of latest platforms/frameworks which can help us build apps and concentrate more on business along with these restrictions. So fine day decided to give try and all alone decided to the development and other publishing activities.

Below are the step by step items which I followed to develop the game.

  1. Day One

Started to think on game theme Design and story but was not successful to find one, so went through some existing apps and started imagining with various stories.

As defining a story was becoming difficult decided to have simple jumping game on tap and have scenes/levels inputs from existing games in play store with my imaginations.

2. Day Two

Identify the players ex characters, enemies , score etc

Discussed with people of same mindset with the mock ups

Finalized the theme and got some image assets from a freelancer

3. Day three

Started researching some platforms for developing the game

Finalized the platform (Buildbox )for building the game quickly based on the theme.

For the first release decided to go ahead with my long time favorite Android

4. Day Four

Started the Development with free version of the platform

Run a test with kids, adults and elderly

5. Day Five

Built the game overnight with 10 scenes

Subscribed with the Game Platform for x period and Got the License so that I could publish it and remove the default splash screen from the platform.

Registered with ADMob for Advertisement integration's

6. Day Six

Continued building the game and testing with two android devices.

7.Day Seven

Signed with google play store and prepared assets for uploading the production app.

Thought for developing more levels but decided to go ahead for this version with the available levels and uploaded successfully.

Never give second thought once you have decided to build your game( and if have some strong story ,in my case i had no original story ) and don’ t continue to develop 1000 levels if you are the only developer or a very small team please go ahead and publish , progressively based on the feedback continue to build more versions or different games.

Don’t know how much people will love this game but I loved creating it and publishing .

In my next blog I would be talking on the success of this game and my next plan
